Horizon Trust is the Nicholson Family Trust which had its foundations built from an ethos of quality and sustainability.
Its creator, the late Bruce Clayton Nicholson was a visionary and dedicated his life to business contribution and philanthropic interests. The Trust has been a vehicle for creating and growing commercial interests spanning almost three decades. Some of these interests include; live stock farming, property development, meat procurement and trading, special events, consultancy, aviation, pastural management and tourism. Today, the Trust’s primary focus is building on its quarrying portfolio based in the region of Taranaki.

South Taranaki Quarries

Horizon Trust entered the extractives industry in 2006 with South Taranaki Quarries being established in 2017. Today, South Taranaki Quarries employ around 10 people who produce and supply aggregate to works throughout the lower North Island, as far south as Wellington. South Taranaki Quarries currently operates three consented quarries sites which supply around 150,000 tonnes of aggregate per year. The products are processed using materials extracted from an ancient shellrock sea bedding formation and andesite material deposited from Mt Taranaki eruptions over 20,000 years ago.
